Friesian Kuering Horse Show Sep 28, 2013 from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM — FENCE EQ side,

A keuring is a judging event performed by various horse registries for European horse breeds including Friesian Horses. Judges (typically flown to the US from the Netherlands) review each horse according to a stringent grading criteria. Each horse is judged carefully, one at a time.

Astronomy Program - Cygnus the Swan! Oct 05, 2013 from 08:35 PM to 10:35 PM — FENCE on Hawk's Ridge,

The Foothills Astronomical Society sponsors a program each month at FENCE. Programs start at sunset and last as long as you want to stay. Telescopes are set up to view stars and planets, and a great variety of interesting and beautiful celestial objects. The astronomers are friendly and informative, and you do not have to have any knowledge of astronomy in order to have a good time. Programs are canceled in case of cloud cover or rain. Please park at the main building and walk to the top of Hawk’s Ridge.

Lucas Agnew Dog Training from Oct 28, 2013 08:00 AM to Oct 31, 2013 05:00 PM — FENCE EQ side,

This is a hands-on workshop for trainers and dog owners who still want to learn and be at the top of their game. Cheri Lucas and Brian Agnew will share their years of experience and collaboration that has allowed them to tackle tough dog behavior cases that conventional training can't crack. The Lucas Agnew motto is "Less talk, more action," believing that we learn the best by practical application. Students are invited and encouraged to bring their problem dogs to class.

TROT Horse Show Nov 23, 2013 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM — Fence EQ side,

Students’ abilities will be showcased when Therapeutic Riding of Tryon hosts its annual Student Horse Show. Nineteen students, children and adults, will compete in trail and equitation classes. The horse show judge will be local equestrian KC Betzel of Landrum, who competes in the horse discipline of eventing.

Rhonda Durbin is a fitness instructor and personal trainer at Tryon Health & Fitness Club. We are very excited to offer ten weeks of free yoga on Fridays at 11:30 AM starting February 7 through April 11. These classes are made possible by the Kirby Endowment at Polk County Community Foundation.

"Late winter in the Southern Foothills can be a very exciting as winter slowly slips north. The days slowly start to warm up and we may start to see a few flowers appearing in the still brown woodlands. Our winter birds are also slowly slipping north, but some will be now starting to sing and nothing is more beautiful on a winter day than the song of the Hermit Thrush.
