Useful Plant Walk

Meet at the FENCE center for a guided walk with naturalist/survivalist Benjamin ‘Raven’ Pressley. Spring is full of opportunities to observe nature, enjoy the sunshine and birds singing ….and to eat weeds! What? Did you say eat weeds? Yep! A lot of those weeds you curse for growing in your yard can be used for food and medicine.

Wild and free food! Walk with survival skills instructor Benjamin ‘Raven’ Pressley as he unveils the world of useful plants growing at your feet. He will be pointing out and identifying plants as we have a pleasant hike. He will discuss which plants are good for food and medicine or to even make a string with. He will also draw much knowledge from his Cherokee heritage and how primitive self-sufficient people lived. Be sure to take notes and pictures. You will learn a lot and you will never use the word useless weed again!
This event is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.
