HELP US HELP!
As a non-profit organization, FENCE relies almost exclusively on the generosity of our supporters, whose tax-deductible contributions help keep our programs and services going. By becoming a Friend Of FENCE, you'll help a child experience the wonders of nature; help a family enjoy safe, well-maintained nature trails; help preserve the variety of natural habitat FENCE offers to local wildlife; and help us effectively work with others to preserve our precious natural resources.

ABOUT FENCE
FENCE was established in 1985 by an 117-acre land grant which specified
that "the property shall be used exclusively...in perpetuity as a
recreational, nature, and equestrian area". Since then, FENCE has
expanded its protected open space to include 380 acres in the
Appalachian foothills of western N.C. The property includes open
meadow, hardwood forest, and a specially constructed marsh - all of
which serve as outdoor nature classrooms. The facility also includes
the Equestrian Center for equestrian competition in a variety of
disciplines. FENCE believes that the more people enjoy and learn about
the outdoors, the more they will want to help preserve and protect it.
Our programs include those for school children, both in the classroom
and at FENCE itself, as well as a variety of family oriented nature
education programs.
