Project FENCE

FENCE can bring nature to your school! Project FENCE is an outreach program that links science topics elementary students are learning about in the classroom to the processes of the natural world. A FENCE educator comes to meet with students in their classroom and dives deeper into a topic they are currently studying. Lessons last for about an hour and include several hands-on activities to reinforce those concepts. Our programs are offered to schools at no cost, materials included. Take a look at our program catalog! We have over 30 programs to offer grades K – 5th that are written to align with state standards. Currently serving 4 counties in both NC and SC, Project FENCE regularly visits each grade level in over 10 elementary schools. Return visits allow educators to become familiar with the students and increases the potential for learning opportunities and projects. Unearth some of the most fascinating creatures to ever walk the planet in our Fossil Facts program and make a fossil to take home! Reach for the stars with our Planet Earth and Beyond program! Discover the importance of the Three R’s in our Waste Wise program! Get wild with our Mad About Mammals, Bonkers for Birds, and Wiggly Worms programs! Experience a personalized visit with our live animal ambassadors and feel the scales of a sneaky snake and touch the shell of a charismatic box turtle in our FENCE Comes Alive program!
