"Seeing, Smelling and Hearing the United States on Two Wheels - Stories and photos from cross-country bike ride across the United States" Jack Henderson will speak about his 2000 plus mile bike ride from the coast of Virginia to Utah and Colorado’s border. Crossing through seven states, he will speak about his journey across the landscape. This presentation is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.

To describe Tom’s music is a bit like describing a favorite recipe---the first ingredient is tasteful acoustic guitar playing. Second, add Tom’s rich vocal style. Sprinkle in a dash of humor. Kid's Nature Club Jan 17, 2017 from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM — FENCE Center,

Beginning this month, FENCE will have a “Kids Nature Club” once a month and will offer different themes monthly with accompanying activities for the kids. These activities will be both fun and educational aimed to engage children between the ages of 5 and 12. The “Kids Nature Club” will be offered free and open to the public and will be held on a drop in basis. Families are encouraged to bring their kids to FENCE to explore our five miles of trails and stop into FENCE to participate in our nature activities. This month’s theme being Animal Tracks and Traces. Kids will learn about some of the animals that call the woods at FENCE home and the tracks and traces that will be left behind by these animals.

Free Family Concert with Moon and You Jan 22, 2017 from 04:00 PM to 05:00 PM — FENCE Center,

The Moon and You is a folk/soul band based in Asheville, NC that tours the Eastern US and Western Europe. At its core are married songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Ryan Furstenberg (banjo, guitar) and Melissa Hyman (cello). The duo's ever-evolving output encompasses the a wide range of American roots music. Their onstage synergy and warmth invite audiences in, offering a peek into a strange and joyful universe of their own.

Wicker basket making with Carla Filippelli Jan 28, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM — FENCE Center,

Carla Filippelli will join us at FENCE to teach "Learn Wicker Basketry-Create an Interwoven Basket". Participants will learn Wicker Basketry techniques while creating a charming interwoven base basket. With the use of hand dyed colorful reeds we will focus on shaping, texture changes, basketry tips and more in an easy to master technique. Students will gain plenty of skills to try more ambitious pieces in the future. Please pre-register for this class. $60 fee includes all supplies for the workshop. Beginners welcome! Students should bring an old towel to the workshop.

Wine and Paint with Christine Mariotti Feb 09, 2017 from 06:00 PM to 08:30 PM — FENCE Center,

Be sure not to miss out on this Winter themed wine and paint night with local artist Christine Mariotti. We will be working in Acrylic paint. Beginner painters always welcome! Please reserve a seat in advance, space is limited for this event.
