Wine and Paint with Joan MacIntyre
Wine and Paint Class featuring local artist, Joan MacIntyre. Known most commonly for her artwork of horses, Joan will be painting a portrait of the Famous Man o’ War. Joan will have one painting completed for the attendees to view but will also paint along with the class as she describes techniques and gives tips to complete their own painting. This class is appropriate for beginners as well as individuals who have more experience with painting. The class will use acrylic paint. All supplies are included in the $35 fee for the class. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Winter Bird Hike
Simon Thompson, local ornithologist, will lead a leisurely walk on the FENCE property. This guided walk is free and open to the community. FENCE welcomes everyone from first time birders to advanced birders to join Simon for his walk! This hike is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.

Winter Bird Hike with Simon Thompson
"Late winter in the Southern Foothills can be a very exciting as winter slowly slips north. The days slowly start to warm up and we may start to see a few flowers appearing in the still brown woodlands. Our winter birds are also slowly slipping north, but some will be now starting to sing and nothing is more beautiful on a winter day than the song of the Hermit Thrush.

Winter may still be hanging on as we run our late winter/early spring birdwalk at FENCE. The first Northern Rough-winged and Tree Swallows may be in, as well as maybe an early Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.

Winter Bird Walk with Simon Thompson
The first bird walk of the year!! Meet at the Trail Shelter for this 2 hour walk. Bring binoculars and good walking shoes, and enthusiasm for a walk exploring the birds in our winter woodlands. Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks are calling and displaying and should soon be building their nests and Red-winged Blackbirds should soon be arriving at the FENCE pond. This program has been made possible by the Kirby Endowment at Polk County Community Foundation.

Woods in the Winter Talk with Tim Lee
Join us in the great room for an interesting talk with local naturalist Tim Lee about the winter in the woods. Learn about the different creatures and plants that call the woods their home and how they are adapted to survive the cold winters.

Yoga
FENCE is offering free yoga on Fridays at 10:15am in the great room. The yoga classes are taught by local instructor Rhonda Giles. This yoga class is designed for all levels, first time yoga students welcome!

Yoga rescheduled for April 18
Rhonda Durbin is a fitness instructor and personal trainer at Tryon Health & Fitness Club. We are very excited to offer ten weeks of free yoga on Fridays at 11:30 AM starting February 7 through April 11. These classes are made possible by the Kirby Endowment at Polk County Community Foundation.
