Winter Bird Walk

This is a great time of year to see woodpeckers and sparrows. We’ll spend the morning exploring FENCE’s network of trails and should find plenty of these winter birds.
This program is free and open to the public. Please, dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes for walking, and bring along binoculars if you have them.
This event is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.

Invasive talk
-
We all love the climate in the Carolina foothills and unfortunately so do most of our most serious invasive plants. Plants such as Tree of Heaven, Kudzu, Oriental Bittersweet, Wisteria, and Miscanthus grass are all exotic or non-native plants that when left unchecked become serious weeds that are extremely difficult to control.
