Summer Bird Hike with Aaron Steed
-
Though August is a summer month, it is the start of the fall migration for many of our local birds. Many of our summer bird residents are still around at this time of year, perhaps still singing, while certain species such as Barn Swallow and Purple Martin have largely gone. The first of many southbound songbird migrants are just beginning to trickle through. Join international bird guide, Aaron Steed, for a walk through the woodlands around FENCE and search for a variety of warblers, tanagers, sparrows and more.

“The Southern Appalachian Mountains are home to an incredible diversity of both plant and animal life. Form the high ridges to the low valleys, the varied topography of these mountains combine to create a unique blend of plant and animal communities. In this program you will meet some of the natural residents who make their home in the Appalachian Wild!”
This program is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.
