"Bhutan- Kingdom in the Himalayas"
Some places in our world are very difficult to reach and Bhutan is no exception. The mountains rise high into the sky and deep valleys criss-cross this small country, leaving little level space for an airport.

Spring Bird Hike with Simon Thompson
-
May is often a beautiful month to go birding. Most of the northbound migrants have moved through, except for a few late Blackpoll Warblers. All of our summer-resident birds should be on territory and singing.

Star Viewing at FENCE
-
This month in honor of the 4th annual North Carolina Statewide Star Party, FENCE is featuring our resident astronomical group, Foothills Astronomical Society. Once a month members of the Foothills Astronomical Society, typically on the first Friday of the month depending on the weather, come out to FENCE at sunset and set up telescopes on top of Hawk’s Ridge (behind the FENCE center). Foothills Astronomical Society aims to encourage astronomy and space exploration learning throughout the community. Whether you are a first time star gazer or an experienced observer, all are welcome to join the group.
