Winter Bird Walk with Simon Thompson
The first bird walk of the year!! Meet at the Trail Shelter for this 2 hour walk. Bring binoculars and good walking shoes, and enthusiasm for a walk exploring the birds in our winter woodlands. Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks are calling and displaying and should soon be building their nests and Red-winged Blackbirds should soon be arriving at the FENCE pond. This program has been made possible by the Kirby Endowment at Polk County Community Foundation.

Summer Bird Hike with Aaron Steed
International bird guide, Aaron Steed, will lead a Summer Bird walk on the FENCE property. This guided walk is appropriate for birders of all skill levels. Please remember to bring along comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle, and binoculars if you have them.

Needle Felting Class
Get artsy at FENCE with a needle felted “painting” class. Talented fiber artist, Irene Heckel, will lead the class in creating a beautiful felted painting from the pet picture of their choice. This class has limited space so please call FENCE to register. There is a $60 fee for this class-all supplies are included with the fee.

Mushroom Hike with Charlotte Caplan
Caplan, will lead a guided mushroom hike at FENCE. Whether you are an experienced mushroom hunter or you are just interested in learning more about the mushroom world, this should be a fun and educational hike for all who attend! If people want to collect specimens to look at more closely, they should bring a basket and a folding pocket knife.
