Master Naturalist Course
FENCE is proud to partner with Clemson University's Department of
Forestry and Natural Resources to offer a 12-week accredited South
Carolina Master Naturalist course. This field-based course of study is
open to those 18 years of age or older who are interested in becoming
"citizen volunteer scientists", certified to act as guides and docents
at nature education centers like FENCE, at state parks and in schools.
Taught almost entirely outdoors by leaders in nature education from
Clemson's own faculty and from the public sector, the course is taught
at F
ENCE
and other sites such as the Blue Ridge Escarpment, conservation areas
throughout the Pacolet River Valley, and along coastal South Carolina.
Tuition includes all course materials, field tools and instruments, and
textbooks. Once certified, Master Naturalists are required to perform
thirty hours per year of volunteer service to maintain certification.
NEXT COURSE BEGINS SEPT. 11, 2010.
