FENCE Equestrian Center
Since holding its first event in the late 1980's, the FENCE Equestrian Center has gained a reputation as one of the finest facilities of its kind in the Southeast.
With permanent stabling for over 300 horses in eleven barns, all-weather footing in three lighted show rings (including a covered arena), on-site parking and spectator seating, the Equestrian Center hosts events in all disciplines year-round.
Cross-country and three-day events are a regular feature of the equestrian calendar, from FENCE's own Horse Trials to those organized by the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club and the Foothills Riding Club. Our cross-country course was designed by Captain Mark Phillips, with a variety of terrain offering a challenge to eventers of all levels.
The Block House Steeplechase, sponsored by the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club, has been run in Tryon every year since 1947 and moved to its new course at the Equestrian Center in 1988. This April event is a highlight of the spring steeplechase calendar and draws entries and crowds from all over the East coast.
A-rated Hunter/Jumper events, dressage, driving, and Pony Club activities can also be found on our calendar. Whether it's a quiet hack through our fields or the excitement of top-flight competition, there's something for every equestrian at FENCE!
