Though August is a summer month, it is the start of the fall migration for many of our local birds. Many of our summer bird residents are still around at this time of year, perhaps still singing, while certain species such as Barn Swallow and Purple Martin have largely gone. The first of many southbound songbird migrants are just beginning to trickle through. Join Clifton Avery, a Ventures Birding guide, for a walk through the woodlands around FENCE and search for a variety of warblers, tanagers, sparrows and more.

This event is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation. This event is free and open to the public. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water for this leisurely walk around FENCE.
